MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION
In this position, we are looking for someone with a good Weld background. Someone with a thorough knowledge of weld processes - to include FCAW.
Thorough understanding of Manufacturing, Weld Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Development of economical costs involving manufacturing processes and procedures through planning and research of new equipment.
JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Guide Engineering during development of product design from concept through final drawing stages in order to build manufacturability into the design. Review existing drawings for clarity, accuracy, manufacturability and determination of fixture requirements.
2. Expert in development of routings, including rates, through the detailed review of fabrication drawings and facility availability. Includes selecting jigs, fixtures, templates, dies, tools, nesting, programming and routing requirement review, to ensure efficient planning, standard costing, lead time and labor reporting control.
3. Provide floor support through the response to on-line labor and supervision exceptions by monitoring, assisting and auditing shop procedures. Provide shop supervision with labor performance analysis, non-standard method documentation, support of reject resolution, COV resolution, investigate first/second step grievances and insure proper application of labor reporting procedures. Apply quality process for entire factory.
4. Act as a liaison between Engineering and manufacturing shops, through communication of problems or questions from the manufacturing shops to the appropriate Engineering personnel. To rapidly obtain engineering directives to be given to shop personnel in order to minimize and/or avoid costly delays in the manufacture or assembly of machine components.
5. Conduct and interpret all forms of work measurement by applying the required techniques for time-study, predetermined time, group timing and work sampling in order to provide statistics for new or revised incentive plans, grievance settlements, work center efficiency analysis, and capital justifications. Development and installation of incentive plans. (individual, group and/or multiple machine)
6. Lead and assist in projects including: tooling selection and material testing, value analysis, shift cutoff routing, CAD knowledge for tool and work center layouts, ERP software requirements, ISO audits, report writing, timekeeping to maintain and/or improve costs and manufacturability of manufactured components. Evaluate new processes and equipment and perform capital equipment justification analysis to insure effective manufacturing flow principles are employed.
7. Self-directed participation in outside activities including professional organizations, which are associated with manufacturing technology, and maintain awareness of state-of-the-art market as it relates to area of responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Full process knowledge in area of responsibility. Complete understanding of ISO and Quality standards in area of responsibility. Data development/history knowledge in area of responsibility. Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawing. Ability to use all applicable computer programs. Problem solving methods (FMEA, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.)
Organizational skills.
TYPE AND LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE
Four year technical degree and minimum 2 years of related experience, or
Working toward a technical degree with 5 years of related experience. Weld Engineering degree a plus.
